When Aaron and I started planning our Miami trip, I immediately knew I wanted to do a sunset beach photoshoot on our anniversary. I had this vision of the golden hour, the ocean breeze, and us just soaking it all in. What I didn’t plan for was being almost three months pregnant when the trip actually happened. I wasn’t sure if I’d feel up for it, but I told myself I could power through—and honestly, I’m so glad I did.
If you’re thinking about doing a beach couples shoot, especially somewhere as dreamy as Miami, here are my top 3 tips to keep it stress-free and fun.

🌴 1. Choose a Beach That Matches Your Vibe
There are so many beaches in Miami, but not all of them are ideal for a photoshoot (too crowded, too busy, etc). We picked a spot near the Surfside Walking Path in North Beach, and it was perfect. Not super packed, easy to get to, and gave us that dreamy ocean backdrop I was looking for. (I included a photo of the exact spot where we took photos)
We shot around 7 p.m. to catch the sunset, and the light was everything. Golden hour is the best time to take photos.

📸 2. Find a Photographer You Click With
I looked up “Miami couple photographers” on Instagram and scrolled until I found someone whose work I felt could capture what I was looking for: soft, romantic, and not overly posed. I even sent her examples from her own feed to show the vibe I was going for.
Don’t feel awkward about sharing inspo—if anything, it helps the photographer know how to bring your vision to life.
3. Go for Outfits That Feel Natural
We kept our outfits super simple—light fabrics, neutral tones, and no heavy accessories. I wanted to feel like me, just a little elevated. I like that with beach photoshoots you can forget about the shoes because you’re on the sand. My biggest recommendation is to go comfy because it’s easier to focus on being present instead of fidgeting with your clothes.
