Growing up, moisturizing my skin was heavily emphasized but wearing SPF was not. Because I have tan skin, I have never experienced sunburns, and this made me believe that I didn’t need it.
Your skin can be harmed by constant sun exposure, whether or not you see a burn. Thankfully, the more I educate myself about skin care the more I realize that SPF is a necessary component of a routine. According to Olay, “Two-thirds of women know they should wear SPF daily, but only one third actually do.” Protecting your skin from UV damage is a year-round commitment.
Warmer months naturally mean more time spent in the sun and I make it a priority to look for moisturizers that have SPF in them. Wearing sunscreen is super important but most of the time it’s greasy, heavy and it leaves white streaks on the skin. As a makeup lover, most sunscreens do not work well with makeup.
When I first started to get into moisturizers with SPF, I noticed that most were pretty thick. But that was not the case for the Olay Whips moisturizer, it sunk into my skin right away and left a relatively matte finish without feeling like it was going to clog my pores.
Another plus is that it is super lightweight.
Tell me about your experiences with SPF. Do you look for moisturizers that have SPF in them, and if not do you wear sunscreen every day?
